Homemade Chocolate Pudding

By Vera, but from Sue's kitchen! Sue made this for dessert the other night and it was SOOO good!!!

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup corn starch
1 tsp salt
5 cups milk
6 eggs
4 blocks unsweetened baking chocolate
2 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix sugar, corn starch, salt in sauce pan. Thoroughly mix milk and eggs in separate bowl then add to sugar mixture. Add chocolate, cook over medium heat stirring often until thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla. It will thicken as it cools. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.

Homemade pudding is the BEST! I use it in my German Chocolate pie recipe; put in a little bit of toasted coconut, some chopped pecans and put it in a baked pie shell. So good!
