Homemade Corndogs

My family loves these homemade corn dogs. We have been making them for a few years now, and they are always a hit! It did take me a few times to get them to look remotely nice, though!
Marie

3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup self-rising flour (or use 1 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt in measuring cup and add enough all-purpose flour to equal 3/4 cup
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
10 hot dogs
oil for deep fat frying
small wooden skewers ( I use wooden kabob sticks, cut in half)
Heat oil to 375 degrees. Insert sticks into hot dogs.
In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, and sugar. Stir in egg and mix well. Stir in milk to make a thick batter; let stand for 4 minutes.
Dip hot dogs into batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown, about 4-6 minutes.
Drain on paper towel.

Amazing! When I tried to make these (a long time ago) the batter kept falling off! I'll have to try again.
I found your site through the Hive and look forward to reading your posts and trying the recipes!
